Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter to Nuno Espirito Santo giving little away after he was asked whether Tanguy Ndombele will start against Rennes on Thursday evening.

Spurs have made the trip to France where they will lock horns with Rennes in the Europa Conference League and Ndombele will be aiming for his first start of the campaign.

But ahead of that fixture, when Nuno was asked about Ndombele possibly starting, he stated that the following, as he told his pre-match press conference.

“All the players that have travelled are ready to start said,” said Nuno.

“Please understand that I didn’t even tell which player is going to start because I didn’t even tell them.”

There are some Spurs fans who want more from their coach and think he needs to interact more with them.

Given the performance the North London club put up on Saturday against Palace then Ndombele should surely be in with a chance.

If he isn’t, upon his return home, then serious questions need to be asked as to where he is heading.

Dele Alli and Harry Winks didn’t cover themselves in glory at Selhurst Park, whilst the likes of Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp can’t start every game.

Either way, at least Ndombele has travelled, which is a lot better situation for the midfielder to be in given that he could have left the club this summer.

Given that he is Tottenham’s club-record signing then it just has to work out for the ball-carrying expert this season.

If it doesn’t then that three managers – Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and Nuno – where he really hasn’t got his engine going.

Ndombele showed glimpses under Mourinho, after having a kick up the backside, but in the end, he faded away.

If he is handed a start in a few hours time then he surely can’t mess this one up because he might not get many starts, thereafter.
