Sex Education season 2 recap

Season 2 of Sex Education was released back on January 17th, 2020, just a few short months before the Covid-19 pandemic forced the world into lockdown.

The second season was packed with plenty of twists and turns and it began with Otis dating Ola after the pair hit it off at the end of season 1.

However, Otis still had feelings for Maeve Wiley, his partner in Moordale’s unofficial sex advice clinic, and when Maeve returned to school after overturning her season 1 expulsion, the romantic tension led to Otis and Ola breaking up.

However, this wasn’t the signal for Otis and Maeve to get together as Otis only managed to mess up what was already a complicated situation even more, not helped by the arrival of Isaac, one of Maeve’s neighbours.

Meanwhile, Adam Groff was another returnee to Moordale and his complicated relationship with Eric took a few surprising turns of its own.

Season 2 came to a jaw-dropping, rage-inducing conclusion when Otis sent Maeve a voicemail admitting his feelings for her and to apologise for his earlier behaviour.

However, Maeve never got to hear the message as it was deleted by the troublesome Isaac just before the season 2 credits rolled.

Season 3 release date and time

Season 3 of Sex Education arrives on Netflix on Friday, September 17th, 2021 and will be released at midnight Pacific Time in the US.

Like most Netflix releases, Sex Education season 3 will be released around the world at the same time.

That translates to 3am ET in the US, 8am here in the UK, 12:30pm in India and 5pm in Sydney, Australia.

Season 3 welcomes in a new year at Moordale and change is afoot as a new headteacher, Hope, has a plan to get Moordale back on track, complete with a new uniform and strict sex education policy.

Otis is having casual sex when the season begins, his mother Jean has a baby on the way, Eric and Adam are now official and a lost voicemail still looms.

How many episodes in season 3?

Season 3 of Sex Education will consist of eight episodes in total.

That’s right, the new instalment will feature the same amount of episodes as seasons 1 and 2, which also featured eight episodes.

In terms of runtime, each episode is expected to be around 50 minutes in length, give or take a few minutes over or under.

Beyond season 3, there is no word yet on whether Sex Education will return for season 4.

However, the show is one of Netflix’s most popular titles and so it’s more likely a question of whether there’s enough story left to warrant a fourth season rather than the show struggling for viewers.

We’ll have to see if season 3 leaves us with another heartwrenching cliffhanger.
