Twitter is particular about its guidelines and anybody that violates their policy is handed a ban. YouTuber Nikita Dragun is the latest to be suspended from the platform for using a certain profile picture, which has now been changed.
Twitter’s decision to suspend Nikita didn’t sit well with her fans, who questioned the platform’s policies. The YouTuber herself shared a screenshot of the platform’s reasoning for temporarily locking her account.
Why was Nikita Dragun suspended from Twitter?
A screenshot shared by Nikita on her Instagram stories reveals that she was suspended from Twitter for “violating the Twitter Rules.”
It further explains that the account violated the platform’s rules against graphic violence or adult content in profile pictures.
The suspension note further read: “We consider graphic violence to be any form of gory media related to death, serious injury, violence, or surgical procedures. We consider adult content to be any media that is pornographic and/or may be included to cause sexual arousal.”
However, Nikita was able to retrieve her account by changing her profile picture.
Profile picture in question explored
Nikita’s Twitter account was locked after she changed her profile picture into an image of a hermaphrodite, which appears to be from an ancient painting.
The picture displayed both male and female body parts and it was considered to have violated Twitter’s policies against graphic content.
After receiving the suspension, Nikita simply cropped her old profile picture to only show the face. She even shared the new profile picture separately on her feed and captioned it: “I had to crop her cuz miss Twitter was not having it.”
Nikita, who was born in Belgium, came out as trans when she was in college and has never shied away from expressing her sexuality. The YouTuber doesn’t seem to be too bothered by the temporary ban on Twitter either as she was seen laughing about it on Instagram.
Fans react to YouTuber’s suspension
Several fans of Nikita and other Twitter users have slammed Twitter for suspending the YouTuber, while many accounts on the platform still continue to display inappropriate content
One wrote, “Wait how did she get banned for this? There are SW’s with hundreds of thousands of followers on twitter…..”
Another added, “Why would she get banned for posting nude artwork? That’s even allowed on Insta.. and Twitter allows full out p*rn on their platform”
One fan opined, “Miss Twitter is against art now? This is why artists prefer Instagram. Twitter is old and boring.”
