Celtic will tonight kick off their UEFA Europa League group stage campaign with an away trip to La Liga side Real Betis.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will be hoping to write off the demons of previous years. Celtic have been poor in Europe over the past few seasons, and supporters will be eager to see the Hoops get off to a winning start against Betis.
The La Liga side, managed by former West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini, will be a good test for the Scottish giants. Celtic have looked sharp since the arrival of Postecoglou, and Betis will be a good showing of how far this team can really go.
Indeed, one player who is relishing playing in Europe this season is Joe Hart. The summer signing from Tottenham spoke to the club’s official website ahead of tonight’s clash with Betis, and the Celtic star is up for the occasion.
Hart said: “It’s a big game. Both teams, I’m sure, are very excited to be in the Europa League. We’re going to pay an awful lot of respect, and I think it’s going to be a good game of football.”
