It has been two weeks since 22-year-old Gabbie Petito went missing while on a road trip with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie. Now, fans are spamming Brian’s Instagram asking him about the missing girl’s whereabouts.
Gabby was reported missing to the Suffolk County Police Department by her family on September 11th. The Florida native was on a cross country trip to Oregon with her boyfriend, Brian, when she abruptly stopped communicating with friends and family.
The 22-year-old’s last known location, as per the police report, was the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
Brian Laundrie’s Instagram spammed by followers
Brian, who returned home in the couple’s van after Gabby went missing, has become a ‘person of interest’ in the case, as per the Laundrie family attorney Steven P. Bertolino.
However, he has reportedly hired an attorney of his own after his return and has been advised by his lawyer to “remain silent” for the time being as the search for his girlfriend continues.
Defending Brian’s silence, his attorney recently said: “Mr. Laundrie being the focus and attention of law enforcement, will continue to remain silent on the advice of counsel.”
On the other hand, the Petito family urged him to speak up in a statement on Wednesday: “Brian, your silence is reprehensible! We beg you to do the right thing and help us bring Gabby home.
“Brian, whatever happened in Wyoming, happened. The only thing you can control is what you do now. Tell us where Gabby is. You tarnish your love for her with your silence.”
Amidst the ongoing investigation, Instagram users recently started spamming Brian’s account, which remains open to the public still. Many pointed out how he had not turned his Instagram to private despite all the backlash.
His last post on the social media platform was uploaded on August 14. Many users have commented under it urging him to speak up about Gabby.
At the time of writing, Brian hasn’t responded to any of the comments.
Was Gabby Petito’s Instagram account deactivated?
As the mystery behind Gabbie’s disappearance deepens, fans were shocked when the 22-year-old’s recently active Instagram account was suddenly deleted.
The Petito family denied having backend access to her Instagram, which confused many over how this was done.
However, after contacting Instagram and the cops, it was later revealed that the account was mistakenly taken down when the social media company were investigating fraud accounts claiming to be her.
It has been reinstated since.
An update on the missing girl’s case
As the pressure on Brian grows, his attorney recently said: “In my experience, intimate partners are often the first person law enforcement focuses their attention on in cases like this and the warning that ‘any statement made will be used against you’ is true, regardless of whether my client had anything to do with Ms. Petito’s disappearance.”
Trying to find any leads in the case, the cops turned to Twitter in an attempt to get Brian to assist them in the investigation.
On the evening of September 15, Chief Todd Garrison of the North Port Police department wrote on Twitter: “Mr. Steven Bertolino, esq. the @NorthPortPolice needs your help in finding Gabby Petito. Please call us to arrange a conversation with Brian Laundrie. Two people left on a trip and one person returned!”
