Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to Youri Tielemans’s comments about his Leicester City contract.

The 24-year-old has stated that he is ‘keeping his options open’, as several clubs, including Liverpool, share an interest in his technical talents, as he told Sky Sports.

The Telegraph have previously claimed that Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the Belgian, who scored the winning goal for the Foxes against Chelsea in the FA Cup final last season.

Back in 2019, the Midlands side paid Monaco, who were slowly losing a number of their star-studded players, £40 million for Tielemans’ talents (BBC Sport).

At the time, it was seen as some serious piece of business from Brendan Rodgers, and rightly so because he has been one of their top performers since.

But he has two years left on his contract at the King Power and he is at a stage where he either signs on the dotted line or heads for the exit door.

Tielemans has now told Sky Sports: “There’s no update really. I’m open to everything. The transfer market has just closed, but I want to keep as many options as I can open.

“As long as I’m here I will give everything for the club. I’ve already done so, but I will do so even more. The contract situation is just something that is going on in football, it’s a normal situation.”

Liverpool fans have provided a mixed reaction to Tielemans’ comments, with some hopeful of signing him up, but others aren’t so keen.

The Reds do need another top midfield talent to fill the void that has been left by Gini Wijnaldum.

FSG aren’t like Manchester City where they will splash crazy money on players, left, right and centre.

So, if that contract of Tielemans continues to run down then it will be interesting to see how those on Merseyside react.
