There has been a huge confusion on social media as people think that Addison Rae’s Met Gala dress is the same one Kourtney Kardashian wore at Christmas 2019. Here’s the rumour debunked.
The 2021 Met Gala saw the attendance of several celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Kendal Jenner, Megan Fox, Justin and Hailey Bieber, among many many more.
This year, the red carpet was also dominated by TikTok stars and social media influencers like Addison Rae.
Addison is a bestie with Kourtney Kardashian but did she wore Kourtney’s Christmas dress at the Met Gala?
Addison Rae at the 2021 Met Gala
The TikTok personality and star from He’s All That wore a long red gown for her debut appearance at the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The dress, which is a 2003 vintage Tom Ford for Gucci gown, features a red corseted bodice and a long red skirt.
Addison finished her look with silver jewelry, gel nail extensions and a short blonde straight hairstyle.
But it looks like some social media users have been busy digging old Instagram posts as the gown that she wore is a similar one to what Kourtney wore before.
Did Addison wear Kourtney’s Christmas dress?
No, Addison didn’t wear Kourtney Kardashian’s Christmas dress.
While Addison made her debut at the 2021 Met Gala with the red vintage dress, Kourtney wore a similar red gown at Christmas 2019.
The two dresses are from the same collection but they are not the same – they have similarities in their designs.
Addison’s dress features straps and diagonal lines on the bodice, while the KUWTK star wore a strapless one back in 2019. The back of the two gowns are also different.
You can see for yourself that Kourtney’s dress is not the same.
Moreover, it’s very common for dresses like these to come from the same collection. As one Twitter user pointed out and tweeted: “Addison Rae wearing the same dress Candice Swanepoel wore last Friday”.
Addison speaks at the Met Gala
Speaking at the Met Gala, Addison explained why she went for that look and said: “Just an American designer, highlighting that, and highlighting the fact that Tom Ford really loved to empower women, and make them stand out, and I just wanted to pay homage to that.”
She added: “I worked with Law Roach, we came together, found out exactly what message we wanted to put across, and then this dress was just perfect for that.”
