Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Daily Mail revealed that Aaron Ramsdale is now expected to keep his place in the starting XI.

What’s the story?

Well, the £24m man has only started one Premier League game for the Gunners, but it seems Mikel Arteta has made his mind up.

The Spaniard made the bold decision to drop his long-time No.1 Bernd Leno in place of Ramsdale, who only just arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

In doing so, Arsenal kept their first clean sheet in the Premier League this season, while also scoring their first goal and recording their first win.

It may only have been a 1-0 win over Norwich, although Ramsdale showed signs of what Arteta wants from his goalkeeper.

One incident saw the 23-year-old drop a shoulder to deceive Teemu Pukki, before firing an accurate, long-range pass towards Martin Ødegaard.

Can Bernd Leno win his place back from Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal?

In our view, Leno will struggle to win his place back.

Arteta didn’t spend £24m on a goalkeeper for no reason, and it’s telling that Ramsdale has gone into the starting XI so soon.

Leno struggles with his feet. Time after time, the £100,000-a-week German has put his teammates under pressure with some woeful passing, leading to goals.

That simply can’t happen in a system where it all starts from the goalkeeper at the back, hence why Ramsdale has come in.

Unless the ex-Bournemouth glovesman has a few nightmarish performances in a row, we can’t see Leno getting back in.
