Internet is rife with discussions about Met Gala 2021 as fans are discussing their favourite stars’ red carpet looks. However, Troye Sivan’s dress choice seems to have divided the internet.
Met Gala 2021 has finally aired and we cannot get over how some of our favourite celebs rocked the red carpet.
Normally, the event is held on the first Monday of May but was pushed back to September 13 this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Troye Sivan’s Met Gala look explored
Australian-American singer Troye has been showcasing his bold outfit choices on Instagram lately. However, no one saw his Met Gala look coming.
He graced the red carpet with a head-turning look as he donned a long, minimal cut-out black dress. The 26-year-old musician completed his look with a simple leather armband placed on his left bicep. He also tossed in a pair of black platform heels and a Cartier diamond neckband to kick the sensational look up a notch.
As he spoke to host Keke Palmer about how his look was relevant to the Met Gala 2021 theme ‘A Lexicon of Fashion,’ the singer said that when he thinks of America, he thinks of a minimal and black and white New York City.
What fans think about singer’s red carpet dress
While many fans commended Troye’s bold red carpet choice, others used the opportunity to create some humour. Here are some notable reactions.
A look at other singers who rocked the event
Another singer who made waves on the Met Gala 2021 red carpet was Lorde, who recently released her album Solar Power. The New Zealander showed up at the event in a delicately embellished two-piece from Bode.
She topped it all off with an incredible headpiece that made her look like a goddess.
Lil Nas X pulled off this year’s most elaborate look as he chose to wear a dramatic ensemble designed by Donatella Versace. The singer donned three grandiose outfits.
For his first outfit, the Montero singer wore an ornate cape lined with gold beading. He quickly removed the cape to reveal a golden suit of armour he donned underneath it.
Lil Nas then got out of the golden suit to reveal his final outfit, a slinky bodysuit. The final bodycon design was laced with crystals and had Versace’s signature house print.
