Roberto Firmino successor

There is no denying that Roberto Firmino is an Anfield icon.

The Brazilian has written himself into Liverpool folklore since his arrival in 2015.

However, he will turn 31-years-old early on next season.

There is also the consideration that the Reds need to evolve.

Liverpool want Jonathan David

Over the summer TSN claimed that Liverpool had Jonathan David high on their list of targets.

The Reds were said to still be keen on the Canadian forward having been linked in the past.

In the summer of 2020 Lille bagged David from Gent for £25.6m.

In his debut season in France the 21-year-old striker won the league, scoring 13 and assisting two.

Lille in action tonight

Given the player’s young age and versatility he could well be a strong candidate to take over from Roberto Firmino.

Also a creative force he has time in his career to add more lethal finishing to his game.

Tonight Lille are in action in the Champions League as they face off against Wolfsburg.

How the Canadian performs on the big stage could be a big indicator as to his potential.

An impressive display in the Champions League this year could put him back on the Liverpool radar as they look to find a successor for Roberto Firmino.
