Few players in history have a reputation anything like the one Zlatan Ibrahimovic boasts. He is unique. A man who has been at the top of the decade for what feels like forever. His side heads to Anfield without him this week. Ahead of the Liverpool v AC Milan tie, Jürgen Klopp has dubbed Zlatan Ibrahimovic as one of the best ever.

Liverpool v AC Milan

This week the Champions League group stage kicks off with a terrific round of fixtures on offer.

The pick of the bunch for Wednesday is surely Liverpool hosting AC Milan. Unfortunately Zlatan won’t be involved due to an achilles injury.

Two of the competition’s most successful sides will be facing off under the famous Anfield floodlights.

The two clubs are in much different positions in comparison to their storied clashes during the noughties.

Jürgen Klopp on Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Pre-match press conferences are always a great opportunity to eke out some team news and get managers’ thoughts on specific opposition stars.

Jürgen Klopp was asked for his views on Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The German lavished praise on the Milan striker:

“Zlatan, what a player, what a player,” the boss said. “He is a man for exceptional moments in the game.

“Zlatan is for sure one of the best players ever in this game. He knows that and I like that about him.”

Sorely missed

The fact that Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t take part at Anfield is a real shame.

Zlatan’s ego is perfect for Anfield. We can be certain that the Liverpool crowd would’ve done their best to wind him up and he would’ve responded in kind on the pitch.

Hopefully he plays for another five years and he gets another crack at Anfield.
