Liverpool face AC Milan

This week the Reds get their Champions League campaign underway and what a way to do so.

The Reds face off against AC Milan with the Italian giants surely still harbouring resentment from 2005.

Since the Miracle of Istanbul both sides have been up and down.

However, the Reds have more recently been on the up having won everything in the past couple of years. Meanwhile AC Milan are only just getting back to where they belong.

Jürgen Klopp on Champions League group

It’s safe to say the Reds got a tough draw.

Liverpool are in a Champions League group alongside Atletico Madrid, Porto and AC Milan.

That is the Spanish champions, last season’s quarter finalists and one of the competition’s decorated sides.

Jürgen Klopp has had his say on the Champions League group, telling a pre-match press conference:

“Difficult! Thank God for all four teams [it is tough]. I think when we all saw the draw not one of us said, ‘Oh my God, what a great group, let’s go for it!’ It’s just a tough group, come on, we don’t have to lie.”

He’s not lying

This will be a tough group for the Reds to get through.

Just who will make it into the knockout rounds is anybody’s guess at this point.

Porto impressed last term but some of their key players are getting on a bit.

Atleti and Liverpool are surely favorites but dropping points anywhere in this group could prove dangerous.
