Everton are now chasing a January move for Aberdeen talent Calvin Ramsay, viewing him as an alternative to Rangers ace Nathan Patterson.

That’s according to The Scottish Sun, who claim that Everton have turned their attention to Ramsay.

Everton seemingly believe that Ramsay would cost a fraction of the price Rangers would want for Patterson.

That has put Ramsay near the top of Marcel Brands’ January wish list with Everton desperate for a young right back.

Interest mounting in Ramsay

Ramsay, 18, was born in Aberdeen and has come up through the ranks at Pittodrie.

Branded ‘the real deal’ by The Scotsman, Ramsay is making huge strides this season.

Everton allegedly sent a scout to watch Ramsay play for Aberdeen against Motherwell over the weekend.

They were suitably impressed, which is no surprise. Ramsay and Patterson are being likened to Kieran Tierney and Andrew Robertson in terms of their full back battle.

Leicester City, Southampton and West Ham United are also keen on Ramsay, with Everton facing a battle.

Sigh of relief from Rangers

Just a matter of days ago, The Sun reported that Everton were ready to pay up for a different Scottish right back.

Everton made two attempts to sign Rangers defender Nathan Patterson over the summer. It was then claimed that Everton would make a £10million move in January.

Yet with Everton now looking at Ramsay, Rangers could be in the clear.

Rangers won’t want to lose Patterson any time soon, and they will certainly hope to avoid a saga in January.
