Moussa Dembele left Celtic in 2018, and the former Bhoy will be back in Scotland this week to face Steven Gerrard’s Rangers at Ibrox.
Rangers will take on Lyon at Ibrox in the Europa League Group A on Thursday evening.
Dembele is likely to start for Lyon, and the striker will be determined to inflict more pain on Rangers.
The 25-year-old striker scored seven goals against Rangers during his two seasons at Celtic, according to The Daily Record.
Ahead of the match, Lyon winger Shaqiri, who joined the French club from Liverpool in the summer transfer window, has raved about Dembele, who cost the Ligue 1 outfit £19.7 million in transfer fee when they signed him from Celtic in the summer of 2018, as reported by BBC Sport at the time.
Shaqiri told The Daily Record: “Dembele, for me, is one of the best strikers in Europe.
“I haven’t played with him that much yet but in training I can see he already has all the qualities a striker needs.
“Our understanding will improve as we play more games and I am sure we can help the team in a big way.”
Rangers and Celtic are bitter Old Firm rivals.
Celtic fans would love to see Dembele score a goal or two against Rangers and help Lyon to all three points from the encounter.
The 25-year-old French striker has scored four goals in five Ligue 1 appearances so far this season.
Dembele scored 16 goals in the league for Lyon in 2019-20.
