Leeds United fans were left annoyed at the challenges from Burnley against Everton at Goodison Park last night.

Two tackles, in particular, annoyed the Leeds faithful, with Josh Brownhill and James Tarkowski the culprits.

This comes after Leeds’ very own Pascal Struijk was shown a straight red card for his tackle on Harvey Elliott on Sunday.

Even though it wasn’t a reckless or overly aggressive tackle from Struijk, it resulted in the Liverpool teenager suffering a serious injury.

But many felt that the Leeds man shouldn’t have been sent off and it was a case of the injury, in which Elliott suffered, that resulted in the red card being shown rather than the tackle itself.

At Goodison Park, inside the first few minutes, Brownhill’s tackle, from behind on Richarlison, with more aggression to Struijk’s, resulted in a free-kick and nothing else.

Then there was Tarkowski’s heavy challenge on the same player in the second-half, and whilst he got the ball, there was an issue of how aggressive he was in his tackle and how far off the ground he was.

Once again, there were was no card shown, or in this case, foul being awareded by the on-field referee.

This has understandably annoyed the Leeds faithful because they think there are clear inconsistencies here.

If Struijk deserves a red then surely one of the two Burnley players should have been given their marching orders.
