You didn’t really think it would be gone for long, did you?

There’s always something disappointing when you witness a terrific conclusion to a season of TV. Sure, the finale was satisfying, entertaining, and intense. But dammit, you just want more right away.

Patience is a virtue and 911 fans will be rewarded for it soon enough, that you can be sure of.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, the American police procedural has been championed as a favourite amongst FOX audiences since it premiered in 2018.

The lives of LA’s first responders have been exhilaratingly chronicled over the years and fortunately, it’s time to get reacquainted. So, with the cat out of the bag, let’s spotlight the 911 season 5 release date and time…

911 season 5 release date and time

The fifth season of 911 will begin premiering with episode 1 on Monday, September 20th 2021 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.

Fans can expect Angela Bassett to lead the ensemble as LAPD patrol sergeant Athena Grant-Nash, Bobby’s (Peter Krause) wife.

Earlier this year, Deadline reported that all of the series regulars aboard 911 received a pay rise, with Angela reportedly earning around $450,000 per episode now. To put into context just how huge that is, the 63-year-old American actress is believed to boast one of the top salaries on network TV for any actor.

The raise is well deserved and makes sense when considering that, through May 2nd, the show has been Fox’s most-watched series if we exclude NFL programming.

Looking at the numbers, season 4 episodes were averaging something around 9.9 million viewers after a week of delayed viewing.

Speaking of episodes, let’s look ahead…

How many episodes are there?

911 season 5 is set to be made up of 18 episodes in total and will air weekly, with some room being made for potential hiatuses.

That should be music to your ears, as the fourth season only had 14. Seasons 2 and 3 were both made up of 18 episodes, whereas the first had 10.

We already have a title for episode 1 and it’s called ‘Panic’. Opening a season with that, there’s every reason to. So, hold onto your hats and hope your favourite characters are safe.

“If the stars align…”

While in conversation with the Observer, showrunner Tim Minear was asked about the direction of both 911 and Lone Star in forthcoming seasons, wondering whether there will be any origin episodes or a potential crossover episode:

“I think we’re going to see all those things. I think we’ve been very successful with our origin stories. Possibly, my story this year was the origin of the Judd-Grace love story. It wasn’t exactly the kind of ‘begins’ story that we would do on 911… really, it was the origin of their love story, and I thought that was really interesting.”

He added: “There’s a big story I want to do in New York that would be a backstory that I tried to do this year, but I couldn’t quite pull it off, so I’d like to do that next year. And I think that if the stars align, I would absolutely love to do another crossover between the two shows.”

Tim includes that he “loved seeing the different combinations of characters meeting and interacting in episode 3 of Lone Star this year,” so there’s certainly hope for something similar.

911 season 5 premieres on Monday, September 20th 2021.
