The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards took place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Sunday night, September 12th.

Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Bieber, Lil Nas X, Doja Cat and Billie Eilish dominated the list of winners during the event.

A source told Page Six that Conor and MGK “got into a fight at the top of the carpet” and “had to be pulled apart.”

According to TMZ, Conor reportedly spilled his drink before he allegedly chucked the rest of it at MGK who was nearby on the red carpet.

The incident was first reported by TMZ before more images and videos emerged on Twitter.

However, despite media reports and videos circulating on social media, a representative for the UFC champion has denied his involvement in the incident.

In a statement to ESPN, Conor’s spokesperson Karen Kessler said: “Conor McGregor did not ask anyone for a picture, nor did he instigate this incident. He does not know Machine Gun Kelly, outside of the fact that he attended Conor’s fight this past July.”

Conor McGregor addresses the altercation

Following the incident, Conor spoke to Entertainment Tonight and denied responsibility in the red carpet incident.

“Absolutely nothing (happened),” he said. “I don’t know. I just showed up and I don’t know. I don’t even know the guy to be honest with you.”

“Just rumours,” responded the reporter.

“Nothing happened with me,” Conor continued. “I only fight real fighters. People that actually fight. I certainly don’t fight little vanilla boy rappers. I don’t even know the guy. I don’t know anything about him, except that he’s with Megan Fox.”

Meanwhile, MGK declined answering questions about the altercation.
