Chloe Bailey, one half of the R&B duo Chlöe x Halle) absolutely delivered at the VMAs with a fully choreographed performance of her new song Have Mercy.
The singer rocked the stage in a hot pink corset and her high energy performance led to Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles tweeting: “I wanna be Chloe Bailey when I grow up.”
However some people on Twitter seem convinced that Chloe’s tampon string is visible during her performance and here’s what we have to say about that…
People need to stop being scandalised by periods
Following Chloe’s exceptional performance, it appears that some people were convinced that her tampon was showing on stage.
Screenshots of her performance were zoomed in, showing something white around Chloe’s lower area. It is extremely unlikely that an entire tampon was loose while Chloe was on stage, and the white object looks too thick to be a tampon string. But even if it is… who cares?
I think perhaps the most disturbing part of this situation is the fact that grown adults are “shocked” by a tiny white little string. If that offends you, I think it is time to log off the internet for the day.
When are people going to accept the fact that women get periods? It is a natural bodily function, and it is not dirty or shameful. Why are people disgusted by something that people with uteruses have no control over?
A similar situation happened to Madison Beer back in 2017. Photographs showing the singer with a period stain on her white bikini bottoms went viral, but Madison clapped back explaining:
“This is so wild that this is a big deal to some people. Girls get their period, girls sometimes bleed through tampons because periods can be extremely unpredictable. If you’re saying its gross, uncleanly etc etc you should probs get your head out your ass and focus on bigger damn issues other than someone having a period stain.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
