West Ham United couldn’t claim all three points away at Southampton on Saturday, but did see Nikola Vlasic make his debut.

The Hammers just weren’t able to break the Saints down. A frustrating game ended in a 0-0 draw on the South Coast as David Moyes had to settle for a point.

Michail Antonio’s late red card was a real frustration, but the positive was seeing Vlasic in claret and blue.

Vlasic makes his debut

West Ham pounced on transfer deadline day to sign Vlasic. The Hammers had to pay a huge €39million (£33.4million) to land Vlasic from CSKA Moscow.

Some of that is in performance-based add-ons, and Vlasic will hope his second Premier League spell is a success.

The Croatian signed for Everton in 2017. Vlasic was barely given a chance at Goodison Park and now returns with West Ham.

Fans were excited after seeing Vlasic in action for Croatia over the international break. He only got around half an hour on the pitch for West Ham, but made an impact.

West Ham fans react to Vlasic display

West Ham fans have been praising Vlasic on Twitter, claiming that he was ‘absolutely class’ against Southampton.

Others believe ‘you can just tell’ that Vlasic will be a key player for West Ham moving forward.

Some even compared Vlasic to Eden Hazard, hailing him for an ‘unreal’ debut display.
