Tim Sherwood has claimed that Wilfried Zaha ‘kept winding up’ Japhet Tanganga during Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday lunchtime, as he told Premier League Productions (11/09/21 at 2:25 pm)
Highbury legend Patrick Vieira, who has enjoyed many victories against Tottenham during his playing days, enjoyed his first win as Palace boss yesterday.
It was a deserved victory for the home side, who after Tanganga’s sending-off, walked all over their London rivals, with Zaha scoring from the spot and Odsonne Edouard netting a brace on debut, from the bench.
But before all that, Tanganga and Zaha were involved in some battles, which included a near-mass brawl – it resulted in him picking up one of his two yellow cards.
Former Spurs boss Sherwood thinks the young defender should have kept his cool during that moment, but he didn’t.
“Then he has to have a cool head after that,” said Sherwood. “It’s all over.
“Zaha kept in his ear. He kept winding him up. He is unlucky there, I think he tries to pull out of the challenge (v Ayew).
“But, unfortunately, when you got to ground, you ask the question marks.”

Zaha is a marmite-like figure, you either love the quick-footed winger or you hate him.
But one thing is for sure, he is entertaining, from minute one right till the final whistle.
And that was the case yesterday, the only issue for Spurs is that he got the better of them at Selhurst Park.
It was the first time the Ivory Coast star scored against the North London and it came at an important time given how Palace have started the campaign.
Whilst Vieira enjoys his first three points as Palace manager, his counterpart suffered his first defeat as Spurs boss.
