Only a few months after the dramatic anime ‘Shadows House’ concluded, the series has been officially renewed for season 2.

When the Spring anime slate started back in April, fans were expecting big things from series such as The Slime Diaries, Tokyo Revengers and My Hero Academia season 5.

However, not many viewers were expecting Shadows House to become one of the most interesting series on the entire slate.

The hit series concluded on June 4th but today, new information on season 2 has been revealed which is sure to get the blood pumping once again.

Shadows House renewed for season 2…

On September 11th, Shadows House was officially renewed for season 2 by CloverWorks animation studio.

The announcement was made in a special live-streamed event in Japan, before the franchise’s Japanese website uploaded a teaser video for the sequel season, see below:

Whilst the news of season 2 is welcomed, it is not altogether unexpected. Anime renewals typically depend on two factors; source material and popularity, both of which Shadows House has plenty of.

According to a report from Monsters and Critics, season 1 episode 12 adapted up until around volume 4 chapter 47 in the original manga series. The good news is that, at the time of writing, eight complete manga volumes consisting of 108 chapters have been published in Japan.

Unfortunately, Funimation does not disclose official viewership for their simulcast series, making Shadows House’s global popularity difficult to discern.

However, the anime has obviously proved popular enough in Japan to merit a second season, with Shadows House currently scoring a solid 7.77/10 on MyAnimeList with nearly 45,000 reviews.

Previously, there had been concerns about Shadows House season 2 because the anime adaptation had not been strictly adapting the manga and was going completely off-script for certain episodes.

This had fans concerned that the extremely popular latter parts of the manga were not going to be adapted. Thankfully, the manga’s author addressed these concerns and revealed that changes were made specifically because the anime needed to be adjusted in order to tell the story correctly.

When will Shadows House season 2 release?

Unfortunately, CloverWorks did not disclose a targeted release window for Shadows House season 2, but we can make some predictions based on the production schedule of the first instalment.

The anime adaptation was officially revealed in October 2020 and premiered in April 2021 as part of the Spring anime slate.

Assuming that season 2 will experience a similar production schedule, fans could see the return of Shadows House as soon as April 2022, again on the Spring slate.

This article will be updated as soon as more information on Shadows House season 2 is revealed.
