Rangers are back in Scottish Premiership action this afternoon following the international break when they face St. Johnstone at McDiarmid Park – and Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard will have an almost-full squad to pick from in Perth.

After a number of Covid issues left Rangers down to the bare bones against Alashkert and Celtic, the likes of Allan McGregor, James Tavernier and Scott Wright should all be in contention for a place in the side.

With Ianis Hagi missing as a result of testing positive for Covid while on international duty, the Romanian joins Ryan Jack in missing out this afternoon.

However, with the Saints missing as many as seven first-team players – including Rangers loanee Glenn Middleton – Gerrard’s side should have more than enough to head back down the A9 with three points.

After Robby McCrorie impressed when called upon the keeper is almost certain to lose his place in the side to Allan McGregor following the veteran’s return.

The back four will likely have a much more familiar look with James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Fil Helander and Borna Barisic taking up their usual berths in Gerrard’s side.

Ahead of them, the midfield three should see Glen Kamara, Steven Davis and Joe Aribo given the nod to start with Aribo tasked with linking midfield and attack and helping break down St. Johnstone’s stubborn defence.

With Hagi out, Gerrard could look to bring Scott Wright into the starting XI but it appears likely that the Light Blues will stick with the same front three that started the Old Firm with Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe and Ryan Kent leading the line for the Scottish champions.

Rangers predicted XI v St. Johnstone: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic; Davis, Aribo, Kamara; Roofe, Kent, Morelos.
