The international break is finally over and Rangers kick off a weekend of domestic football when they take on St. Johnstone at lunchtime – and Gers fans are gutted at Connor Goldson’s shock omission.

The Light Blues have named three changes from the side that started last month’s 1-0 Old Firm win over Celtic at Ibrox as Jon McLaughlin, James Tavernier and Calvin Bassey replace Robby McCrorie, Goldson and Borna Barisic.

The defender has featured in every game for the last two years, with the last time he wasn’t involved coming in a League Cup tie against East Fife at Bayview in August 2019.

Ianis Hagi misses out for Rangers after testing positive for Covid while on international duty and Ryan Jack is still injured but after the Covid problems that hit the Scottish champions, Steven Gerrard goes into the game with a near full-strength squad at his disposal.

After winning in their last outing, Rangers will be hoping to build some momentum after a difficult start to the new season saw Gerrard lose three games in a row for the first time as manager.
