A Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake has been confirmed and it’s a time-limited PS5 exclusive that will be available on PC and then Xbox.
Yesterday’s PlayStation Showcase was an okay event that got everybody screaming from the rooftops simply because of images involving Wolverine’s battered knuckles as well as Venom for Spider-Man 2. Not only that, but we also got to see God of War Ragnarok‘s Kratos with his whiny boy who is now a whiny teenager.
Gran Turismo 7 and Ghost Wire Tokyo were other highlights, but – for many – the event eclipsed at the very beginning with just a red lightsaber.
Is Star Wars KOTOR a PS5 exclusive?
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is a timed console exclusive for PS5.
It will be available on PC too when it launches, but it will not be on the Xbox Series X or S. Also don’t expect it to arrive on the last-gen PlayStation 4.
Aspyr are the developers this time round, and their PlayStation Blog preview says that they’re completely rebuilding the much-beloved RPG. They claim to have assembled the best talents from some of the original BioWare developers to people at PlayStation, and Aspyr themselves have a fantastic history with the far far away galaxy.
Will Star Wars KOTOR come to Xbox?
The Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic PS5 remake will come to Xbox Series X and S.
Aspyr Media’s Lead Producer, Ryan Treadwell, confirms the game’s time limited exclusivity by saying “it’s a console exclusive on PlayStation 5 at launch”. This means it will only remain loyal to Sony’s next-gen system at release until it eventually joins the bed of Xbox.
While it will not be available on Microsoft’s console from day one, the Lucasfilm Games‘ Twitter account confirms that it will be on PC.
There is no release date and fans shouldn’t expect the game anytime soon.
Ryan Tredwell says that it’s still very early in development, so we wouldn’t expect the game to come out anytime before 2023 or maybe even 2024.
