Aston Villa fans are excited at Leon Bailey returning to training ahead of the club’s visit to Chelsea at the weekend.

The 25-year-old has been injured since Villa’s opening day defeat to Watford.

But, as Bailey posted on Twitter on Thursday evening, he is ‘excited to be back with the lads’.

Villa fans are feeling the same vibes as their £25 million winger (BBC Sport) and they can’t wait to see him showcase what he has got.

Dean Smith’s side have been steady during these opening three games, picking up four points, against two newly-promoted teams and Newcastle.

But facing off against the European champions, who they beat on the last day of last season, is going to be a different story altogether.

Although, it does help that Smith now has a stronger squad to choose from, including Morgan Sanson, who returned to action over the international break and Ollie Watkins who came off the bench against Brentford last time out.

Watkins should be fit to start against Chelsea, but will Bailey be thrown straight into the deep end?

Even if he’s not, Villa’s bench is going to look extra tasty, with a lot more firepower and attacking threat.

This will be the first of two visits to Stamford Bridge for Villa, starting with their Premier League showdown.

Then they travel for a League Cup tie later on this month.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Villa fans reacting to Bailey’s Twitter message:
