Almost two decades have gone by and the question remains: Which pill will Neo swallow in the latest Matrix film? Well, spoiler alert incoming!
The trailer of the long-awaited fourth film of The Matrix has just been released and in just three minutes Lana Wachowski’s latest masterpiece has amazed – and confused – the entire world.
From the White Rabbit references to the mirror that bends and twists, every scene of The Matrix 4 is a mystery, but the biggest puzzle remains the same as in 1999.
What colour pill does Neo swallow in The Matrix 1999?
Referencing Alice in Wonderland and the White Rabbit since its early days, Neo – also known as Thomas Anderson – has to decide between red and blue pills.
None of them makes him larger or small, but as Morpheus tells Neo he has to choose: “You take the blue pill…the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill…you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”
The pill that Neo chooses in the original Matrix movie is the red one, deciding to remain in the fictional computer-generated world of The Matrix.
What colour pill does Neo swallow in The Matrix 4?
In the fourth and latest The Matrix sequel, Neo seems to have changed his mind and is seeking the truth rather than wanting to explore the Wonderland of Matrix further.
According to The Matrix Resurrections trailer, Neo has a whole bottle of blue pills, trying to break free from his false reality and discover his truth.
While he takes many of the blue pills trying to find out the truth, ultimately, Neo chooses again the red pill when he’s offered one and jumps on a new adventure in the world of Matrix.
Down the rabbit hole he goes again, and the story of Matrix Resurrections will unfold on December 22nd 2021 in theatres, with multiple flashbacks from the 1999 movie and references from Alice in Wonderland and the White Rabbit.
