But the focus was Mina welcoming Rondon to training for the first time for some Everton fans on social media. They loved their Colombian centre-back making his new Venezuelan teammate feel at home instantly in his new surroundings.

Mina moved to Merseyside from Barcelona in 2018 in a £27m deal under former manager Marco Silva. He faced Rondon twice in his debut campaign at Goodison Park while the striker led Benitez’s attack at Newcastle.

Everton drew 1-1 at home to the Magpies that season before losing 3-2 at St James’ Park in March. Rondon scored the Toon’s first to pull Benitez’s men within one after a strong start for Silva’s side. He then teed Ayoze Perez up to win it in the 84th-minute after the Spaniard had pulled United level moments earlier, to strike out Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison’s hits.
