David Dobrik’s new show on Discovery Plus sees the YouTuber revisiting his homeland with his friends. The show’s trailer has made many fans curious to learn about his roots.

David has entertained his fandom with his vlogs for years now. With over 18 million subscribers on his main YouTube channel, the 25-year-old is one of the highest-paid internet stars out there.

The Vlog Squad leader’s new show, titled Discovering David Dobrik, helps fans understand more about his background and roots.

Where is David Dobrik from?

David was born on July 23, 1996, in Košice, Slovakia.

In an interview, David’s mother Kristina revealed that the family decided to relocate to Toledo, Ohio when the YouTuber was only five years old. She previously lived there for a year after graduating from high school.

The family then moved to Skokie, Illinois, outside of Chicago, before finally settling down in an upper-middle-class suburb in Vernon Hills. David attended the local high school where he played Tennis.

His father started a real-estate-photography company, and Kristina stayed at home with David, as the family settled into their new home.

After graduating high school, David moved to Los Angeles and started creating videos on Vine. The rest is history.

Is the YouTuber a US citizen now?

David not being able to leave the United States due to his immigrant status under DACA has been an ongoing joke among Vlog Squad members.

For the unversed, DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals is a U.S. immigration policy that allows certain individuals who are brought to America as children avoid deportation. However, these people cannot travel abroad once they are put under DACA status.

David revealed in his recent YouTube video that he has finally received his green card. However, it is important to note that this does not make the internet star a U.S. citizen just yet.

A green card merely gives its holder a legal right to live and work in the U.S. permanently. The individual can then apply for US citizenship.

A look at David’s Discovery show

David and his friends will feature in 10 episodes of the show as they take on new adventures around the world. The gang will travel to several countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa as well.

We will also get to meet David’s extended family in Slovakia as he visits them after 10 long years.
