Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared what he knows about Antonio Conte and Arsenal amid ongoing links.

Conte has been linked to Arsenal for a few weeks now after the Gunners’ poor start to the season, and the rumours have been rather varied.

Some have suggested that the Italian has been in contact with the Gunners, while others have made seemingly baseless claims about pre-contract agreements.

However, Romano says that these reports aren’t true, claiming that there has been no contact between the two parties.

What’s been said?

Romano shares what he knows about Conte.

“I don’t know where this is coming from with Antonio Conte and Arsenal. We have many rumours about Conte and Arsenal, many rumours about Antonio being set to join Arsenal with a pre-agreement. It is not true. There is no pre-agreement with Arsenal, and at the moment there are no discussions with Arsenal,” Romano said.

“I don’t know what happens in one month, two months or one year, but there is no contact with Arsenal today. He just signed with Sky Italy, to be their man for the Champions League studio with Sky Italy. So he’s prepared to have this new role for this season. Maybe next summer Conte will be back at the top level, but right now, no contact with Arsenal.

“He also wants to have a big impact on a team in England, we know what happened with Chelsea, so he wants to have a big impact with deciding new signings and this type of thing, so having Antonio Conte in October or November is something particularly difficult.”

Would be perfect

It makes sense that Arsenal haven’t contacted Conte. After all, Mikel Arteta is still their manager, but if the Spaniard were to depart, Conte would be the perfect replacement.

The Italian has tasted success pretty much everywhere he’s ever been. He’s a master tactician who you’d back to get the best out of this struggling group.

If Arteta is to go, Arsenal may want to get on the phone to Conte, but sadly, at the moment, there’s no indication that the London club are showing any interest in the former Chelsea boss.
