Kevin Campbell has claimed that there is ‘no chance’ West Ham boss David Moyes does a better job at Arsenal, as he told the Highbury Squad.
The former striker shared that the Arsenal players ‘can’t even do the basics’ and that’s not even something he feels Moyes could coach them.
Even though the Scotsman has spent less money and has a so-called lesser squad, in terms of quality, the Hammers outperformed their neighbours last season.
And even now, they look streets ahead of the Gunners, who after three games, are sitting bottom of the Premier League table.
Nonetheless, given Arsenal’s plight, Campbell was asked would Moyes do a better job than Mikel Arteta and he issued this blunt response.
“No chance, no chance,” said Campbell. “I know David Moyes and I have worked with him. Not in a month of Sunday’s.
“You want to know why? Because our team can’t even do the basics. If you can’t do the basics then it doesn’t matter what manager you have.
“People sticking balls into your box and a midfielder beating your big centre-half at the back sticks. You can’t legislate for that.”
Whether Moyes would be able to make a club like Arsenal title challengers again or win the title, is up for discussion because his time at Old Trafford didn’t go well.
But perhaps, if he had been in charge of the Gunners last season, then he would have been able to get them into Europe.
There’s no doubt that the crop of players currently in North London simply aren’t good enough to put on the shirt.
Given that a large number of them were at the club under Arsene Wenger, and are still there now, speaks volumes.
Until the lot of them are moved on then it’s probably going to be a struggle for Arsenal to move forward themselves.
