Basketball fans will not find NBA 2K22 on Xbox Game Pass at launch but the series’ release history suggests it may be added to the subscription service shortly after.

It’s always one of the most anticipated games of the year and there’s plenty of improvements for fans to anticipate. The WNBA will include off-field activities and workout sessions, the City will be populated and full of side quests, and – as with every year – armpits, buttocks, and bald heads will be even sweatier.

Experiencing the trials and tribulations of becoming a megastar in basketball is an annual tradition, and so is the series’ release on Microsoft’s subscription platform.

Is NBA 2K22 on Xbox Game Pass?

NBA 2K22 will not be on Xbox Game Pass from September 10th.

The only way you will be able to hit the court and become a global superstar thanks to Nike and other clothing brands is by buying the game. There are three editions available for both PlayStation and Xbox, so make sure you’re fully aware of the rewards and freebies before buying.

Although it will not be part of Microsoft’s library of games at no added cost from day one, it’s possible that it could join the programme in early 2022.

Will NBA 2K22 come to Game Pass?

2K Games hasn’t said that NBA 2K22 will come to Xbox Game Pass, but the series’ past two instalments suggest that it might.

NBA 2K20 was released on September 5th, 2019, and it joined Microsoft’s programme on March 5th, 2020. 2K21 launched on September 3rd, 2020, and it was added to Major Nelson’s free library on March 4th, 2021 before being removed in August.

Both games joined in March the following year and then left in August/September before the next instalment. Although unconfirmed, it’s possible that this year’s entry could repeat history.

How to subscribe

You can subscribe to Microsoft’s programme for £7.99 per month on either console or PC, or you can get an Ultimate membership for £10.99 per month instead.

Although we don’t know if Take-Two Interactive will repeat history with their newest instalment of shooting hoops, it’s still worth joining the service because of all its fantastic titles. Psychonauts 2 is a game-of-the-year contender that was added in August, meanwhile the new additions for September include Final Fantasy XIII and Surgeon Simulator 2.
