But he has posted a picture of his foot in a protective boot, which has deflated the Villa fan base.

For the first three games of the Premier League season, Villa have had injury problems or COVID issues with the likes of Leon Bailey, Trezeguet, Bertrand Traore, John McGinn, Ollie Watkins, Morgan Sanson, Tyrone Mings, Jacob Ramsey and Ezri Konsa.

That’s a lot of first-team players either already injured, getting injured or suffering COVID setbacks.

Nonetheless, during that period, Philogene-Bidace has impressed, but now he has seemingly fallen into the same boat as the above players.

Understandably so, Villa fans are annoyed and frustrated because they would have been hoping for him to start against Chelsea this weekend.

Emiliano Buendia, who has been involved in the farcical scenes in Brazi, clearly won’t feature against the European champions, so it opened the door for the Villa teen to possibly start out on the right.

Of course, it can still happen because that protective boot might just be Philogene-Bidace being overly safe, and hopefully, that’s the case and he is fine.
