Emerson Royal has shared on Instagram that he has ‘proudly arrived’ at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 22-year-old stepped foot into Hotspur Way for the first time on Monday – ‘the day after Tottenham’s birthday’, as he wrote on Instagram.
Spurs signed Emerson from financially-hit Barcelona on transfer deadline day and he will now be hoping to provide some competition at right-back.
With the youngster’s arrival, it resulted in the departure of Serge Aurier, who mutually agreed to terminate his contract in North London.
Nonetheless, this news about Emerson landing in North London will no doubt delight the Spurs fans.
It will be interesting to see where Emerson fits in the right-back pecking order because there are probably two players ahead of him.
Japhet Tanganga, who isn’t a bonafide full-back, has been thriving in that spot during these opening three games of the Premier League season.
Tottenham are the only team with a 100% start and three clean sheets to their name.
Then there’s Matt Doherty, who arrived last summer but struggled, and he will now be hoping to get some of his mojo back under a coach that got the best out of his career at Wolves.
Either way, right-back has been a problem area for a number of years for Spurs and now there is much-needed depth in that department.
