Kenny Dalglish has praised Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic in The Sunday Post (print edition, page 75, September 5, 2021) for selling Odsonne Edouard to Crystal Palace for a good transfer fee.
The Celtic legend believes that the Hoops did well to get the money they got for a striker who wanted to leave the club.
Scottish Premiership giants Celtic sold Edouard to Premier League club Palace on summer transfer deadline day.
The Eagles paid the Hoops an initial transfer fee of £14m for the 23-year-old striker, according to Sky Sports.
Dalglish wrote in The Sunday Post (print edition, page 75, September 5, 2021): “Celtic sold Odsonne Edouard to Crystal Palace for around £15 million. That was a good cheque to get for a player who wanted to leave.”

Was it good business from Celtic?
Edouard was out of contract at Celtic next summer, and the Hoops ran the risk of losing the 23-year-old striker on a free at the end of the season.
It did make sense for Celtic to cash in on the former Paris Saint-Germain man this summer.

However, on the pitch, it remains to be seen how much it affects Celtic.
The 23-year-old scored 86 goals in 179 games for Celtic.
Edouard also gave 39 assists during his time at the Glasgow giants.
Giorgos Giakoumakis has been signed from VVV-Venlo as a replacement for Edouard, and it will be interesting to see how the 26-year-old Greece international striker does for Celtic.
