The classic Disney animation or the Drew Barrymore-led adaptation of Cinderella will forever be cemented in film history, and Pitch Perfect director Kay Cannon has summoned the fantasy tale into 2021 with a modern aesthetic on Amazon Prime Video.
Starring Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver, Pierce Brosnan, and singer Camila Cabello, this Cinderella remodeling has been labeled a “jukebox musical”, which promises a wealth of sing-a-long tunes from actors with pipes. If you’re not yet swept away by its majestic qualities or foot-tapping stretches, come and explore the filming locations where this musical was brought to life.
Cinderella Filming Locations
Amazon’s fairytale was entirely shot on British soil in England, combining a coordinated schedule of on-location and studio filming. The cameras began rolling back in February 2020, which was unsurprisingly affected by the pandemic.
Filming was forced to cease in March before picking up again in August and concluding in October. Capturing all the scenes with large crowds were reportedly completed before the pandemic (luckily), and a variety of England’s architectural past was featured throughout the film.
The grand Waddesdon Manor was used to double Cinderella’s abode, located in the village of Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire.
The manor was used to capture most of the interior and exterior shots of the film, with the crew making good use of the large courtyard out front.
In addition to Waddesdon Manor, the crew spent a lot of time filing at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire County. It was reported that Cinderella shot on Stage F and Stage C, with a size of 7,500 square feet and 8,910 square feet.
Prior to the pandemic, the crew was spotted filming in the northwest of England in Blackpool. Scenes were apparently shot around the tourist attraction Blackpool Tower – a structure still standing from its creation by the British Empire in 1894.
Blenheim Palace, located in the town of Woodstock, Oxfordshire, was also used to film the library scenes in Cinderella.
