**Warning – Money Heist Spoilers Ahead**
Netflix’s heart-racing Spanish crime series Money Heist has returned for Part 5, which will propose a new threat for the red-clad gang.
Within the excitement of new escape plans, fans are also aware that actor Pedro Alonso, who plays Berlin, will be back to feature in this chapter, and we explain how the previously killed-off character returns for Part 5.
Is Berlin Still Alive in Season 5?
- No, Berlin does not come back to life in Season 5 but instead appears in the current season through a series of flashbacks.
Berlin, whose real name is Andrés de Fonollosa, revealed that he was terminally ill during Part 1. In Part 2, Berlin sacrificed himself as a decoy, in order to let the rest of his gang escape, and consequently got killed under police fire.
During Part 3, Berlin remained a prominent part of the show despite the character’s demise, by appearing through a series of flashbacks from years before the events of Part 3. These flashbacks showed Berlin planning the Bank of Spain heist as well as his marriage to Tatiana.
Due to a set photo released during the filming of Part 5, fans quickly spotted Berlin’s actor Alonso in the lineup, fuelling rumors that his character was magically going to come back to life. However, following the character’s involvement in Part 3, Berlin returns for Part 5 through flashbacks only.
Part 5 Episode 4 is a prominent episode for Berlin, as the character’s past heists are explored. Berlin’s heist at the castle is featured and narrates an important lesson to his son. As father and son escape with a suitcase of Viking gold, Berlin throws the stolen treasure into the water to ensure his son’s arrogance does not appear in another heist. Of course, the gold is not lost, as Bogota turns up in scuba-diving gear.
Season 5 Plot
The official synopsis for Part 5 is as follows: “The gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have managed to rescue Lisbon, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own.”
As the Professor has been captured by Sierra, the gang does not have a way out, and there’s also the unwelcomed addition of a powerful adversary: the army.
Creator Álex Pina has also hinted at possible Money Heist spinoffs in the future, which would develop the complex characters of the show even more so.
