Drake lovers have gone crazy for Certified Lover Boy, and if you haven’t been playing the game of guessing who’s samples are used, then get guessing.
The seventh song “Way 2 Sexy,” on his new album, sounds rather familiar, and listeners are trying to figure out where the retro sample comes from. Future and Young Thug feature on the song, but who is the original sample?
Drake has dropped an even more wild music video for his collaboration with Future and Young Thug, read on to watch the video and discover who the sample is.
What is the retro sample on Drake’s ‘Way 2 Sexy’ song?
- On “Way 2 Sexy” Drake samples Right Said Fred’s hit “I’m Too Sexy.”
Right Said Fred’s 1991 smash hit “I’m Too Sexy” is so iconic but it is not the sample people expected Drake to use. “I didn’t expect to wake up this morning to hear Drake sampling Right Said Fred,” Annie Mac tweeted.
“Way 2 Sexy” is the first music video to be released for any Certified Lover Boy song, and it’s sure to be a hit. The video bears a resemblance to NSYNC’s 1997 track “Sailing” and other parts of the choreography in the video pays tribute to Michael Jackson another artist who Drake mentions on “You Only Live Twice.”
The new music video has insane visuals, and there’s a lot to take in. Dave Meyers directed the visual, as he also did one of Drake’s previous videos “Laugh Now Cry Later.” The “Way 2 Sexy” music video’s title picture looks much like it’s a karaoke introduction in a disco-type font with a warning from Drake’s label OVO.
“Warning: Headache, stomach upset, back pain, muscle pain, stuffy nose, flushing, or dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly,” the description continues. “Repeat viewing may lead to a pregnancy.”
Drake releases Certified Lover Boy
Certified Lover Boy has been delayed since January as Drake announced with a message on social media that confirmed: ‘I was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery.
‘I’m blessed to be back on my feet feeling great and focused on the album, but CLB won’t be dropping in January. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all in 2021.’
