Speaking on the Where’s Jeff? Podcast, Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas has been discussing Tottenham and their impressive start to the season.
Spurs have won each of their first three Premier League games so far, and it’s fair to say they’ve been incredibly impressive.
However, Nicholas believes that one Tottenham player in particular still has an extra gear to find.
What’s been said?
Nicholas has been very impressed by Spurs, but he still thinks Dele Alli can get even better.
“The change of manager, when you look back that’s the sort of thing you’d think Mourinho would bring to Spurs. Harry Kane finally admitted defeat and he’s staying at Spurs, and what you’ve got with Nuno is that he works with the organisation like he did at Wolves, and he knows he can play counter-attacking football. He’s got someone like Dele Alli, who is not firing on all cylinders, but at least he’s back in the team and feeling a part of it again,” Nicholas said.
Room for improvement
Dele Alli has been fantastic so far this season, but we have to agree that there’s still room for him to improve.
Now, that’s not a knock on his performances so far, but we all know just how good the Englishman can be when he’s at his very best.
Indeed, this is a two-time PFA Young Player of the Year winner, and he once hit 18 goals in a single Premier League campaign.
He’s been brilliant so far this term, but when he’s playing his best stuff he’s simply world-class.
Let’s hope we see the best of Alli for the remainder of the season.
