Paris Saint-Germain are not happy with Layvin Kurzawa after the £11 million misfit turned down a deadline-day move to Premier League outfit Crystal Palace, as reported by L’Equipe.

According to claims originating from the other side of the Channel, Marseille were far from pleased after learning that Duje Caleta-Car had rebuffed the advances of Wolves and West Ham.

In the post-pandemic era, a £15 million windfall would have done Marseille’s finances the world of good (RMC).

But at least the Croatian centre-back should still have a role to play at the Stade Velodrome.

That is more than can be said of Kurzawa, a 13-time France international, who suddenly looks like persona non grata in Paris.

According to L’Equipe, PSG offered Kurzawa to Crystal Palace during the final few days of the transfer window.

Eagles boss Patrick Vieira gave the deal the green light too, seeing the former Monaco flyer as someone capable of adding experience and quality to his new-look squad (FootMercato).

Furthermore, at just £11 million, the four-time Ligue 1 champion looked every inch a bargain, especially when you consider that Kurzawa is entering his prime at the age of 28 and has a further three years left on his contract.

Why did Layvin Kurzawa turn down Crystal Palace?

But the swashbuckling left-back had no interest in giving up on Champions League football or the prospect of swapping Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi in favour of sharing a dressing room with Jordan Ayew.

It is understood that PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has let it be known that Kurzawa is no longer part of his plans at the Parc des Princes.

One of the club’s longest-serving players is now the fourth-choice left-back behind Abdou Diallo, Juan Bernat and deadline-day arrival Nuno Mendes, a £75,000-a-week misfit destined to spend the next few months twiddling his thumbs on the sidelines.

Perhaps PSG wil suffer a repeat of last year’s unprecedented injury crisis, handing Kurzawa a route back into the first-team picture. For now, however, his decision to turn down Crystal Palace looks like one he might end up regretting.
