Arsenal defender Cedric Soares has no plans to leave north London despite the arrival of Takehiro Tomiyasu and interest from Fenerbahce.
According to Football London, the Portuguese international is ‘firmly committed’ to the Gunners. Fenerbahce are reportedly keen on Cedric, with the Turkish transfer window not closing until September 8th.
Despite Tomiyasu joining Arsenal on deadline day in a dramatic late move from Edu, Cedric has no plans to leave north London for Fenerbahce. The £75,000-a-week defender has started the Gunners’ past two Premier League games.
Indeed, Cedric was poor against City. The former Southampton star had a game to forget against the reigning Premier League champions, with fans criticising the 30-year-old.
As well as Cedric, Sead Kolasinac has been a target for Fenerbahce this summer as well.
However, the left-back could be denied a move due to injury. Kolasinac has recently picked up an injury on international duty with Bosnia in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against France.
With three right-backs now at the club, Arsenal face a balancing act if they are to keep the trio of Calum Chambers, Cedric and Tomiyasu happy with their playing time. With no European football, however, this could be a difficult task for Mikel Arteta.
But given that Tomiyasu is both the youngest and the most expensive of the three players, it is likely that Cedric will fall to the bench despite playing the past two Premier League games for Arsenal.
