According to Sky Sports, Serge Aurier could now join Arsenal, just days after being released from his contract by Tottenham.
What’s the story?
Well, the 28-year-old’s time with Tottenham was meant to come to an end in June 2022.
However, a mutual decision was made to terminate his contract on deadline day.
Sky Sports believe Aurier told Spurs he wanted to leave at the end of last season, although an exit never materialised.
Tottenham fielded interest from France, Russia and Turkey, although no suitable bid arrived for the 66-cap Ivory Coast international.
Now, he is keen to stay in England, and would even consider joining Arsenal despite his time with Tottenham.
Sky Sports believe Mikel Arteta’s side have been made aware of his desires.
Would Serge Aurier be a good signing for Arsenal?

In our view, Arsenal should steer clear of Aurier.
Why? Well, for a start, do the Gunners really want to be offering contracts to those not deemed good enough by their bitter rivals?
It would be pretty embarrassing if they did so, and Aurier went on to continue his disappointing displays.
Furthermore, Arteta has no need for Aurier.

If this opportunity arose before deadline day, then maybe Arsenal would’ve considered it.
However, Takehiro Tomiyasu arrived in a deal worth £16m, so the right-back department is sorted.
It’s the sort of move Arsenal would’ve made a few years ago, when the likes of Stephan Lichtsteiner arrived in north London.
Things aren’t going too well for the Gunners right now, but they’re not bad enough for Arteta to be signing Tottenham’s unwanted goods.
