Leigh Griffiths has been singing the praises of Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.
The former Australia manager took charge at Parkhead this summer to quite a mixed reception.
Some Celtic fans were satisfied, but many more were expecting a bigger name to replace Neil Lennon after being teased with the likes of Eddie Howe, Roy Keane and even Rafael Benitez.
But after a desperate start under Postecoglou, which included elimination from Champions League qualification and defeat away to Hearts in the first Premiership game, Celtic improved massively and strung together a six-game winning streak, scoring 24 goals during that period.
Despite losing his first Old Firm derby to Rangers – who are three points ahead of them in the Premiership table – on Sunday, Celtic still seem to be in capable hands – and Griffiths is a big fan.
The 31-year-old hitman was handed a new one-year deal by Postecoglou, only to be loaned to Dundee on transfer deadline day in quite an unexpected development.
But Griffiths has spoke glowingly about the coach nonetheless, describing him as ‘different class’.
He told The Scottish Sun: “Ange has been different class since he came to Celtic, great for me and the rest of the boys. I won’t have a bad word said about him. His training was first class. I just had a disrupted pre-season and was then trying to catch up with the boys, who were flying.”
Turn it around
Griffiths could yet turn it all around at Celtic, but a successful loan is imperative.
But remember, this is a striker who scored 40 goals during the 2015-16 campaign, making him one of the club’s most devastating goalscorers in its recent history.
And if he can channel that correctly and rediscover his form, there’s no telling how good he could be this season.
