According to Belift’s Weverse note, Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, and Sunghoon of K-pop super rookie group, Enhypen, have tested positive for COVID-19. The note explained that the group was already in self-quarantine when they started showing symptoms.
Enhypen’s positive COVID test sparks worry
On September 2nd, 2021, Enhypen’s Belift lab took to Weverse to update fans on the group’s current situation.
The Entertainment label revealed: “Following the confirmation of a COVID-19 case on a production site, ENHYPEN entered into preemptive self-quarantine from Thursday, August 26, and was classified by government authorities on Friday, August 27 as requiring self-quarantine due to close contact.”
According to the statement, Jake first started showing symptoms. “After reporting his symptoms to the local government health center, he underwent PCR testing. He was found positive for COVID-19 on the morning of Monday, August 30.”
“Subsequently, members Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, and Sunghoon began showing similar symptoms on Monday, and PCR testing was carried out, which confirmed their positive diagnoses for COVID-19,” Belift Lab stated.
Belift Lab’s sudden announcement caused a Twitter storm as Enhypen’s followers started tweeting their concerns as well as ‘get well soon’ messages.
A fan wrote: “Get well soon Hee, Jay, Jake, Hoonie and Wonie. Sunoo and Ni-ki pls be safe and healthy. GET WELL SOON ENHYPEN!”
Belift lab assures relocation of Enhypen members to a treatment facility
As Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake and Sunghoon are currently showing light symptoms, Belift lab has revealed that they will be relocating Enhypen members to a treatment facility to get the proper care.
They explained: “Following instructions from health authorities, the necessary measures are being carried out, including assignment and relocation to treatment facilities; the members are currently showing light symptoms.”
As concerns also arose regarding staff members who use the same HYBE building, Belift assured: “After the COVID-19 case occurred on-site on Wednesday, August 25, all who were present including the artists underwent PCR testing, were confirmed as negative and entered into self-quarantine; as such, the possibility of further spread is low.”
They also mentioned: “All artists and staff undergoing self-quarantine performed self-testing twice a day and closely monitored their health and quickly carried out PCR testing as soon as any symptoms appeared.”
Enhypen was currently getting ready for their September-end comeback. The K-pop rookie group last released their Japanese debut single Border: Hakanai which includes ‘Given or Taken,’ ‘Forget Me Not’ and ‘Let Me In.’
