Admit it, you’ve all done it…

You and your friends or family are walking out of the cinema having seen the latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As you begin to fully digest what you’ve seen, you begin talking.

“Imagine if it had gone down like this instead…”

The MCU has perhaps delivered more iconic moments than any superhero fan would have ever thought possible. However, we’re all curious beings by nature, and thinking of different scenarios and situations is sometimes part and parcel of being a Marvel enthusiast.

Needless to say, the MCU hasn’t exactly made its interest in alternative timelines and so forth a secret as of late. Indeed, the anthology series What If? has perfectly capitalised on what it would be like if key moments of the universe’s history had happened differently.

Episode 4 – ‘What If… Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?’ – has given audiences a lot to explore, but curiosity has centered somewhat on Christine Everhart in What If?

Who voices Christine Everhart in What If?

The character of Christine Everhart is voiced by American actress and model Leslie Bibb.

She appears in this alternate reality as a news anchor for WHiH, delivering a report on the death of Dr. Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), Doctor Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) girlfriend.

Before we get into why her presence is a cause for celebration, here’s where you may recognise the 46-year-old from.

Looking back on her career, she first appeared on screens in a 1996 episode of Pacific Blue (she played Nikki). Since then, she has landed film roles in the likes of The Babysitter: Killer Queen (Phyliss), Tag (Susan Rollins), Confessions of a Shopaholic (Alicia), Zookeeper (Stephanie), Miss Nobody (Sarah Jane McKinney), Law Abiding Citizen (Sarah Lowell), Trick ‘r Treat (Emma), Talladega Nights (Carley Bobby), and beyond.

Over on TV screens, on the other hand, you may have seen her in Jupiter’s Legacy (Grace Kennedy-Sampson / Lady Liberty), American Housewife (Viv), Nobodies (Sam), Rhett and Link’s Buddy System (Aimee Brells), and The League (Meegan).

Of course, there’s another important reason viewers are excited to hear her voice…

Leslie Bibb returns to the MCU

Although just a brief cameo, it’s worth shining a light on Leslie and Christine’s role in previous MCU efforts.

Leslie has portrayed the character of Christine a number of times, even appearing in the first-ever MCU movie – Jon Favreau’s Iron Man – back in 2008.

The blockbuster saw her introduced as a Vanity Fair reporter who has a one-night stand with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). She shows up later in the film, irritated that she had fallen into the trap of becoming another of Tony’s conquests, as it were.

This resentment is followed by her unearthing information on Stark Industries’ shady activity, before helping facilitate Tony’s reveal of his superhero identity.

Leslie reprised the role again in Iron Man 2, appearing during an interview with Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), Tony’s Rival. As a side note and fun little fact, Leslie and Sam are married!

Continuing to chronicle her MCU history, she was also in the WHiH Newsfront web series promoting Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War, as noted by Looper. In this she argues against the Avengers, weighing up the wreckage left in the wake of superhero clashes and the financial strain it places on society in cleaning up the aftermath. Indeed, this was the last time she was spotted in the MCU, so it’s an exciting little return.

Is Leslie Bibb on Instagram?

Yes, you can find her on Instagram over at mslesliebibb.

Although she hasn’t posted about What If? it’ll simply make her cameo more exciting for fans who aren’t aware of it going in.
