Juventus are already targeting a 2022 move for Dusan Vlahovic, who Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly ready to sign from Fiorentina this summer, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian economy blocked the Bianconeri from bringing in their ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, after he joined Manchester United. A lack of departures also meant the Turin giants could not improve the overall quality of Massimiliano Allegri’s ranks as wanted.

Juventus are now looking toward the future and are already putting plans in place for the summer 2022 market. The Old Lady want at least one marquee signing and have identified Vlahovic as their intended goal.

Juventus wanted to sign Vlahovic from Fiorentina this summer – when Tottenham sought his signature – if their finances were stronger. But the economic situation in Turin ensured the Bianconeri could not tempt La Viola owner Rocco Commisso into selling.

Spurs also made attempts to lure the Serbia centre-forward away from the Artemio Franchi Stadium, per Sky Italia. The north Londoners were prepared to offer close to their £60m bid for Lautaro Martinez to sign Vlahovic. Who the Express claim was also open to the move.

Juventus, though, are clear in their intention of taking Vlahovic from Fiorentina a year after Tottenham’s unsuccessful pursuit. Contact has already been made with the 21-year-old’s agent, Fali Ramadani, as well, to begin to understand the associated costs.

And there is reason for some optimism, as the seven-cap international is still yet to sign a new contract. Commisso had claimed in August, via TuttoMercatoWEB, that La Viola were ready to make Vlahovic their top-earner in club history. His current deal expires in 2023.

Should Tottenham revive Vlahovic interest in 2022 like Juventus intend?

Juventus will hope their financial outlook improves over the next year to test Fiorentina’s resolve for Vlahovic, and hope Tottenham do not revive their chase, as well. La Viola would likely use Spurs’ interest to better their resistance to the Champions League outfit’s efforts.

Vlahovic signing a new contract with Fiorentina would also damage Juventus’ chances of signing the Tottenham target in 12-months’ time. Commisso will not want to lose his star marksman, who has three goals in as many games this season.

Antonio di Natale also hails the former Partizan Belgrade talent, who scored 21 goals in 37 league games last season. The Udinese icon lauded Vlahovic, via TMW, a ‘phenomenon’ who is likely to outgrow his current setting soon.
