Lee Grant was full of praise when preaching about the early season performances of fellow Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Grant was asked to comment on De Gea’s excellent start to the campaign.
The Spanish shot-stopper has shot into life at the beginning of the term, after going through patches of form last year.
In United’s opening three Premier League fixtures, only two goals have slipped through his gloved fingertips.
Leeds United defender Luke Ayling scored an unstoppable strike on matchday one, whilst a deflected Che Adams effort earned Southampton a point earlier this month.
De Gea’s heroics, along with Mason Greenwood’s late goal, handed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side victory away to Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.
The 30-year-old’s double stop to deny Roman Saiss threw shades to his prime United days, where moments like that were almost a customary occurrence.

Grant gives De Gea the thumbs up
Grant attributed his goalkeeping companion’s return to brilliance for the effort he put in during pre-season.
He said: “At this moment in time, David is working incredibly hard. And his focus is laser. All credit to David for his preparations.
“Of course, coming off the back of the Euros, you could argue there may be some disappointment he wasn’t involved to the extent he would’ve liked during that.
“He put that to one side very quickly and he’s worked very diligently during preseason.
“Incredibly happy for David and he’s able to reap the rewards in terms of the work he’s been putting away from the grass.”

Although the no.1 has been imprinted on his back for some time, De Gea had to share that responsibility with Dean Henderson for a large part of 2020/21.
But after falling ill through covid and missing the European Championships, Henderson has dropped down to his original backup role.
“I’ve got to give Dean a mention because he’s been incredibly unlucky in terms of contracting covid when he did,” Grant continued.
“He was in spectacular form as well, working incredibly hard.
“This is football. David has taken this chance unbelievably. It’s going to be a real interesting battle between the two of them this year.”
