Tottenham Hotspur are big fans of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves – but any deal on deadline day looks very unlikely.
That’s according to Football.London, who claim that Neves has ‘plenty of admirers’ inside Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Tottenham can’t really make a move today with Tanguy Ndombele now expected to stay in North London despite his desire to leave.
Had Ndombele moved on, maybe a deal for Neves could been chased, but that just isn’t going to happen before 11pm tonight.
This is no great surprise.
Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo worked with Neves for four years at Molineux, as well as working together for one season at Porto.
Nuno hailed Neves in 2019, noting that he has ‘quality and talent’ in midfield, which is why he was a virtual ever-present in Nuno’s side.

Even Fabio Paratici is a big fan of Neves, as he wanted to lure the midfielder to Juventus back in 2018 according to Tuttosport.
A deal won’t happen tonight, but Neves may well be a player for Tottenham fans to keep a close eye on in the future.
It’s clear that Tottenham decision makers love him, and if Ndombele finds his way out of Tottenham in 2022, maybe Neves will be seen as a quality midfield addition.
