Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace will beat Nuno’s Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard on transfer deadline day, according to The Daily Mail.
What’s the story?
The Daily Mail have reported that Palace have won the race to the signing of Celtic star Edouard.
The Eagles, now managed by Arsenal legend Vieira, will pay Celtic £15 million in transfer fee for the 23-year-old striker.
The Frenchman will undergo a medical today before completing the move to Palace.
Blow for Tottenham Hotspur
This latest development on the future of Edouard will come as a blow to Tottenham.
That’s because Spurs had been planning to make a late move for the striker.
The Daily Record have claimed that Tottenham are ‘watching developments’ regarding the former Paris Saint-Germain striker.
We covered the report here on HITC Sport yesterday.
Crystal Palace are big winners
Edouard is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership and was described as “world class” by his Celtic teammate David Turnbull in The Daily Record in February 2021.
The striker would make Palace better and more potent in attack, and Tottenham are about to miss out on a player who would have given head coach Nuno another good option in attack.
Yes, Harry Kane is still at Tottenham, but that the North London club are looking at Edouard indicates that Nuno wants another out-and-out striker.
Edouard scored 16 goals and gave three assists in 23 league starts last season.
