Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has named his starting XI for this afternoon’s Old Firm clash with bitter rivals Celtic – as Gers fans on Twitter want to know where Nathan Patterson is after the Scotland defender was replaced by Leon Balogun at right-back.
Balogun comes into the side for Patterson, who is self-isolating, Ryan Kent replaces Scott Arfield and Kemar Roofe takes the place of Ianis Hagi as Rangers make three changes to the starting XI.
The Light Blues welcome their title rivals to Ibrox for the first time this season as the Scottish champions welcome back a number of Rangers players who missed the midweek Europa League clash with Alashkert.
Allan McGregor, Jon McLaughlin, James Tavernier, Jack Simpson, Calvin Bassey, Niko Katic, Jermain Defoe, Brandon Barker, John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack and Juninho Bacuna were all missing on Thursday night in Armenia – with the manager also stuck at home due to Covid issues.
With some of those players available again today, it has given the Rangers boss more options when it comes to his starting XI.
However, there doesn’t appear to be any sign of Gerrard at Ibrox again today, leaving Gary McAllister in charge once again as the Gers’ Covid problems continue to bite.
The Rangers bench is also looking much stronger than it did in midweek but the absence of Patterson has Gers fans worried with skipper James Tavernier also still missing.
Here are some of the comments from Rangers fans after the starting XI for the Old Firm was confirmed:
