Leon Bailey has wished Wesley ‘all the best’ on Instagram after the Aston Villa man departed for Club Brugge.
Aston Villa confirmed on Twitter on Saturday that Wesley has moved back to Belgium and re-joined Club Brugge.
It has been a difficult period for the 24-year-old, who only really managed six solid months of action in the Midlands before he suffered that horrific injury against Burnley on New Year’s Day of 2020.
It was well over a year before Wesley was kicking a football in Claret and Blue colours again, but given the strikers ahead of him at Villa Park now, he hasn’t been handed those much-needed regular minutes.
Regardless of performances or any of that like, Wesley just needs time out on that pitch and minutes to feel the sharpness in his legs again, hence why it was the right choice for him to move this month.
Wesley posted on Instagram that he hopes to help Club Brugge ‘in the best way possible’ and thanked them for re-signing him.
In the comments section of Wesley’s post, Bailey, who just joined Villa this summer, wrote: “See you soon bro and all the best.”
Wesley just needs regular time out on the field where he can go through struggle because of his lack of games during the past 18 or so months.
That’s not going to happen at Villa Park with Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings ahead of him, although re-discovering that form at Club Brugge could fair well for the club come next season.
Given that Wesley has been loaned, it suggests that Villa have faith in the hard-hitting forward in the long run.
Now, it’s just a case of Wesley showcasing the form in Belgium and showing why Villa paid a then club-record fee for his talents many years ago.
